Our commercial kitchen is a shared-use and business incubator available to anyone wishing to produce and/or market a locally fresh product. We help early stage catering and retail food businesses by providing commercial equipment that allows for food preparation, packaging, and distribution of finished products in an environmentally safe facility.
The kitchen, a 3,600 sq. ft. facility run by a certified food professional, is equipped with a commercial stove, mixers, large stainless steel work tables, and storage space. Within the kitchen we strive to significantly reduce: the use of plastics in packaging, pesticides in food, rsbt and other hormones, and confined livestock.
Why use a commercial kitchen?
To sell prepared food to the public, the FDA requires you to prepare that product in a certified commercial kitchen. Our kitchen allows you to launch or expand your food business with lowered risks, minimized start-up costs, and access to brand new, state of the art commercial equipment.
Using the Kitchen
There is a minimal hourly rate charged for the time you use the kitchen. As more food businesses begin using the kitchen, there will be the opportunity to order bulk ingredients and packaging supplies to reduce your costs even further.
Rates: $12.50/hour; 2 hour minimum (Reduced rates for repeat users)
Retail & Other Opportunities
One major advantage of processing your food at en season is the access to on-site retail opportunities. In addition to preparing products for sale, the kitchen is also equipped for cooking demonstrations, educational classes, and training.
New and additional reservations are handled on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to standing reservations. Please contact Cindy Teel at (309) 343-1191 to reserve a time.
Each customer is responsible for cleaning the kitchen as part of their kitchen use, including all equipment, tables, and floors. We'll supply all the necessary cleaning supplies.
